The Dealhack Canadian Senior Discounts List is the result of our quarterly survey of brands that offer seniors discounts. Every 3 months, their team independently verifies each and every discount on this list. They also add more brands to the list regularly when they come across them.
The list currently includes 73 brands conveniently broken down into 7 categories (and further by age groups within each category). You can also save or print the list to use as a handy reference.

General Discount Information for Canadian Seniors
Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP) membership – CARP is an exclusive association for Canadians age 50 and above. With an annual fee of $19.95, CARP members gain access to great benefits which includes discounts in many different stores, hotels, and etc. Discounts requiring CARP membership will be indicated down below (source).
Always ask: Senior’s discounts are not always openly advertised. It is recommended that you ask about whether or not the store offers the discount every time you make a purchase.
Be prepared: Always have your government-issued identification on you to prove your senior status.

- Hallmark: Hallmark offers senior’s discounts one day a week. Discounts vary by location (source).
- Home Depot: Home Depot offers senior’s discounts for eligible customers at the manager’s discretion (source).
- Home Hardware: Home Hardware offers a 10% discount to seniors at select locations (source).
- Laura Secord: Laura Secord offers a 15% senior’s discount on the first Monday of every month (source).
- Michael’s: Michael’s offer a 10% senior’s discount on all purchases every day (source).
- Rexall Pharma Plus: Rexall Pharma Plus offers a 20% discount every senior’s day. See website for more details (source).
- Value Village: Value Village offers a 30% senior’s discount at select store locations.
50 and older
- Banana Republic: Most Banana Republic stores offer a senior’s discount which varies by store location and day of the week (source).
- Rona: Rona offers a 10% senior’s discount to customers age 50 and older. The offer is valid every first Tuesday of each month at participating store locations only. (source).
55 and older
- Goodwill: Goodwill offers a 10% senior’s discount which is available one day a week. Specifics may vary by location (source).
- Lawtons Drugs: Seniors age 55 and older are eligible to receive a 20% discount from Lawton’s Drugs. The offer is available one day every month in all store locations (source).
- Golden Griddle: offers 10% seniors discount (alcoholic drinks are excluded) (55+) (source).
- Arby’s: offers 10% discount to senior with valid ID. Availability depends on store location (source).
60 and older
- Giant Tiger. Giant Tiger holds monthly Senior Discount days for customers age 60 and above.. Discount dates and rates varies by store (source).
- Pet Valu: Pet Valu offers a 10% discount on regular-priced items to age-eligible seniors every last Thursday of the month (source).
- Salvation Army Thrift Stores: Salvation Army Thrift Stores offer a 10% senior’s discount on all items. Senior’s discounts are available every day but cannot be combined with other offers (source).
65 and older
- Shoppers Drug Mart: Shoppers Drug Mart offers a 20% discount to all seniors age 65 and older with a personal Shoppers Optimum card. This special discount is available every last Thursday of the month (source).
- Canadian Tire: offers 10% senior discount on first Wednesday of the month, off regular priced items (65+) (source).
Transportation Discounts for Canadian Seniors

- Avis: CARP members are eligible to claim a 25% discount on Avis base rates. Simply use Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) number C744400. (source).
- Budget: Budget offers CARP members up to 25% off Budget base rates for vehicle rental. Available in participating US and Canada locations only (source).
50 and older
- Hertz: Hertz’ 50 Plus Car Rental Program offers discounted rates and exclusive rental deals to everyone age 50+ (source).
55 and older
- First Air: Elders can save 10% off with First Air’s special fares promotion (source).
60 and older
- Amtrak: Amtrak offers a 10% senior’s discount on select Amtrak trains (source).
- Via Rail: Via Rail offers a 10% senior’s discount on the Economy Plus fare and on regular Sleeper Plus and Touring fares. (source).
62 and older
- Greyhound: Greyhound offers a 5% discount on passenger fares to seniors aged 62 and above with valid photo identification as proof of age (source).
65 and older
- British Columbia Transportation System: The whole public transportation system in British Columbia offers discounted fare rates and a bus pass program to seniors 65+. A valid B.C. CareCard or BC Services Card must be shown to the driver when you pay (source).
- Calgary Transit: Seniors age 65+ are eligible to apply for Calgary Transit’s Regular Senior Yearly Pass and Low Income Seniors Yearly Pass (source).
- Go Transit: For passengers age 65 and above, a single-ride fare is half the adult single-ride fare (source).
- Toronto Transit Commission: TTC offers discounted fares and passes for seniors 65+ (source).
- Hamilton Transit: HSR offers discounted fares and passes for seniors 65+ (source).
- Ottawa Transit: Ottawa Transit offers free rides for seniors every Wednesday. Discounted monthly pass and lower cash and PRESTO e-purse fares also available (source).
- St. John’s Metrobus: St. John’s Metrobus offers discounted rates on their 10-ride pass and monthly/30 day pass to seniors age 65 and over (source).
- Winnipeg Transit: Winnipeg Transit offers discounted fare rates for seniors age 65 or older. A valid identification card must be shown to the operator when boarding (source).
Bank Discounts for Canadian Seniors
55 and older
- BMO Bank of Montreal: Qualify for the Senior Plan by providing proof of age during registration in a BMO Bank of Montreal branch (source).
60 and older
- National Bank: National Bank’s PERSPECTIVE benefit package for seniors over age 60 has recently been replaced with MODEST™. This chequing account requires a $4.95 fixed monthly fee ($5.00 discount). $3,000 minimum monthly balance is required to waive the monthly fee (source).
- Scotiabank: All Scotiabank customers age 60 and older can enjoy free or lower monthly fees on Eligible Chequing Accounts like Scotia One™ Account, Basic Banking Account, and Basic Banking Plan. Monthly fees are also waived for Eligible Saving Accounts like U.S. Dollar Daily Interest Account and Euro Daily Interest Savings Account (source).

- Royal Bank of Canada: RBC offers a Seniors Rebate on all personal banking accounts for eligible customers age 65 and over (source).
- CIBC: CIBC’s Smart® for Seniors offers great benefits for all its bank customers who are over 65 years of age. Seniors can benefit from discounted or waived monthly fees on CIBC Smart™ Account, CIBC Premium Growth Account™, and CIBC US$ Personal Account. The bank also offers discounts on safety deposit boxes (source).
Hotel Discounts for Canadian Seniors

- Fairmont Hotels: Fairmont Hotels offers CARP members one complimentary night plus a $25 hotel meal or spa credit with participating Fairmont Hotels (source). Guests age 55 and older are eligible for the discounted rate (source).
- Hyatt: Seniors can save up to 50% on Hyatt’s daily rate at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts in Canada (source).

- Best Western: Best Western offers a 10% discount or more on room rates at Best Western® Hotels & Resorts (source).
- Sandman Hotels: Sandman Hotels offers a complimentary 55Plus membership redeemable online or by calling 1+800+SANDMAN. Seniors age 55+ can take advantage of Sandman hotels’ year-round preferred rates at all locations in Canada (source).
60 and older
- Choice Hotels: Choice Hotels offer special rates and amenities for senior travelers age 60 and above. Get 10-30% off hotel room rates when you book directly online (source).
62 and older
- Marriott: Save 15% or more on your Marriot hotel room by making a reservation online or ask for the senior discount by calling toll-free 1-888-236-2427 (source).
- InterContinental Hotels Group: IHG offers special rates for guests age 62 and older with valid membership ID of a retired persons organization (source).
Food and Restaurant Discounts for Canadian Seniors

- A&W: A&W offers a 10% senior’s discount on all food purchases. Discounts available only at some locations.
- Applebee’s: Applebee’s offers a senior’s discount with the free Golden Apple Card at some locations.
- Bruno’s Fine Foods: Bruno’s Fine Foods offers a 10% senior’s discount every Wednesday.
- Burger King: Burger King offers free coffee to seniors (location may vary).

- M&M Meats: M&M Meats offer a 5% senior’s discount for purchases $29 and under and a 10% discount for purchases over $30 (source).
- Subway: Subway offers a 10% senior’s discount on all purchases.
62 and older
- Mandarin: Mandarin offers a 20% senior’s discount on all buffets (source).
Entertainment Discounts for Canadian Seniors

- Canadian War Museum, Ottawa: Senior pricing is available to people age 65 and up with proof of age (source).
- Cineplex: Admission per film is at $13.95 for seniors which is $1 off general admission fee (source).
- Toronto Symphony Orchestra: Toronto Symphony Orchestra offers a 40% discount on most performances for CARP members. Senior pricing is also available on select concert performances (source).
